FIELD TRIPS:
Plan a Field Trip to LARC’s Acadian Village
LARC’s Acadian Village offers engaging and educational field trip experiences with flexible options to suit your group’s needs. Schools can choose between self-guided and guided tours, with the option to add hands-on workshops to any guided tour for an additional charge.
How It Works
Most school groups arrive around 10:00 AM to begin their tour. Groups scheduled for guided tours are often divided into smaller sections to provide a more personal and enriching experience for each student.
-
Self-Guided Tour: Approximately 1 hour
-
Guided Tour: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on group size
After touring, students can enjoy lunch on the grounds. There are benches and picnic tables available, or you’re welcome to picnic beneath our beautiful, shaded oak trees.
Following lunch, students are given free time to play in the open green space—whether it’s school-provided games or a fun round of classic tag. The general store is also open for student shopping (with adult supervision). We kindly ask that no more than 20 students visit the store at a time.
Once all activities are complete, dismissal follows a fun and memorable day of learning and exploration.
A Visit That Gives Back
All proceeds from field trips benefit LARC, our parent organization dedicated to supporting individuals in Acadiana with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Self-Guided Field Trips
Explore the charm and history of our 19th-century Acadian Village at your own pace with a self-guided field trip. This teacher-led experience gives students the opportunity to walk through authentic Acadian homes and scenic grounds while learning what life was like for early Acadian settlers in the 1800s.
Enjoy the flexibility of moving through the village based on your class’s interests and schedule—perfect for encouraging student curiosity and hands-on learning.
